Hi everyone!
This was a fun study week - we realized that this is a big biome to study! Here are some important facts the students feel that you should know about this biome:
"The ocean covers 70% of the Earth's surface."
"This is the largest biome and has the most animals."
"There are 4 layers of the ocean based upon the sunlight that they receive - and different animals and plants live in each layer."
"The ocean is being polluted by people and it is hurting animals."
"We need to take care of the ocean."
The environmentalists designed some great projects - games, diagrams, pop up displays - WOW
And we enjoyed teaching third graders about what we had learned!

A visit from the Audubon society - animals of the Pacific NW
We had a great time today speaking to a scientist from the Audubon society - showed us some amazing animal pelts and skulls so we could compare the differences between animal adaptations.
Thank you to the PTA for supporting science in the classrooms!

The Arctic Biome
This week we "visited" the Arctic biome. We read books, viewed information, wrote, created, colored and shared our ideas with others. Here are some ideas the environmentalists had when asked:
"What is one fact that you think is super important about the Arctic?"
"Puffins can fly and swim!" "The Arctic has so many animals and plants!"
"Humans can live in the Arctic - and they have for thousands of years"
"Some days the sun never sets...and others the sun never rises!" "The Arctic is very cold - but not as cold as the Antarctic!" The Arctic is ice covering an ocean." "The Arctic is spread over many countries and continents."

Whether the weather...Our unit wrap up!
Hi everyone!
We were very busy at the end of April putting finishing touches on our science projects about weather. The young meteorologists acquired so much new information - amazing!
We also said "so long" to seeing Miss Hite everyday - she was a great addition to our classroom and we will miss her!
Here are some pictures of our weather learning and our project party - enjoy!
