All about the Desert!

This was a fun week learning more about the desert - the best part was visiting Leo the lizard (bearded dragon).  We were able to see in action that cold-blooded animals definitely slow down when it is cold, and how much they needed the warmth of the sun.  A HUGE thank you to Anna and her family for letting us have him for a visit - such a wonderful gift! Check out some pictures of our projects and Leo!

Here are some ideas the environmentalists think YOU should know about the desert:
"The desert is mostly covered in rocks and sand."Peter
"It is very hot during the day and very cold at night." Sofie
"The saguaro cactus can live up to 200 year and birds can live in it." Rory
"The desert is cool at night." Tatum
"The desert is very hot and every animal has an adaptation to the heat." Lila
"The night in the desert can be as low as 50 degrees but in the day in can be over 100." Henry
"The desert is very hot and dry." Monty
"There are two types of desert - sandy and rocky." Gregory
"Plants can survive in the desert because they store their own water." Alex
"Every animal in the desert has some adaptations. " Obi
"Alot of animals come out at night because it is cooler at night than in the day." Reed
"The desert is very hot and dry - all animals who live there have adaptations." Eva
"Not all deserts are hot." George
