Thanks for the class pictures Kali!
Today we watched a movie called "Meet the Robinsons", a movie about science, learning, family, and never giving up...
There was also time travel, bowler hats, and a talking frog...
Later, we watched a great magic show by Bob Eaton,
clapped out the fifth graders,
then enjoyed a time signing each others' art books:

As the year comes to a close, I want to leave you with this quote from the movie we saw today:

“Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” Walt Disney

As we end second grade and you move on to third grade, here is a little advice:  stay curious, do at least one act of kindness everyday, listen to your parents and teachers AND

Keep moving forward!

Thanks for a great year everyone!  Mrs. Robb, signing off for the 2013-2014 school year!

Thursday June 12

This is the bonus day...our make up day as a result of all of the snow!

If you child ever tells you that they cannot clean the house, yard, room, etc...remind them of today!  We wiped, dusted, sorted, stacked, and generally tidied up the room.  Room 13 is now very clean, looks great,  and is mostly dust free, although there were many sneezes as part of the dedustification process!  There is something both satisfying and a little sad about a classroom this clean because it signals the end ideas well learned, projects completed and the end of the school year.

See you tomorrow as we wrap things up with book cleaning and counting- stay tuned!

Wenesday June 11

We started this morning with creative art!  The students were able to use any materials in the room to create anything they wanted!  They really seemed to enjoy themselves!

Then we moved into our "creative play"time.  The students worked on puzzles and designs and even electric circuits- they are very creative!  Thanks for bringing such wonderful things to share!

Tomorrow we will be taking home everything from our desks and lockers...send a bag!

Friday June 6- Pictures of Projects! Rainforest Week

Hi everyone!
This week, habitat scientists were hard at work creating representations to demonstration their knowledge of the rainforest.  During their project work, the students are learning to explain their thinking to others while they negotiate and plan the details of a multi-day project.
When the projects are complete, we present them to the class.  This helps students use the practical skills of listening and thinking about the words of others AND speaking in front of others concisely and coherently.  Here are the pictures of their work:

See you all Monday!  Don't forget to bring your favorite game!

Wednesday June 4

Today was filled with literacy work, math assessments, and rainforest projects.  This week, they need to reference a book when using facts for their project.  The scientists were up to their canopies creating rainforest representations...stay tuned until Friday when their hard work is revealed!
See you tomorrow!
