December 18, 2015 - last day of school in 2015

Hello everyone!
We had a fun busy day today.  We CARE visited our school today and they taught us about games from around the world that influenced the games we play today.  Mr. Snyder read us "How The Grinch Stole Christmas", then we returned to the gym for a We CARE workshop class! Then we had some time with our fifth grade buddies where we were able to show them our Fairy Tale projects.  In the afternoon, we enjoyed story time with Olive the Other, the watched her story.  The day ended with the final library time of 2015. Thanks for all of the thoughtful gifts and kind wishes...to all of you I wish a lovely, relaxing time with your precious children.  Time is such a gift; the most wonderful gift of the season!  Enjoy some pictures of the day and have a wonderful time together!  See you next year!

December 11 Friday

Hi everyone!
Well, it's been a very busy few weeks, with much going on in the classroom and out.
We have a new, wonderful student in our class - Jesse, who joins us from Australia!!!

This has been a very busy few weeks here in second grade.  We also welcomed Abby Neville (Ms. Neville) to the class.  She is a student at the University of Portland who will be spending the next 4 months in our classroom in her final teaching internship before she graduates.

We began a small study of fairy tales to read, explore and evaluate fairy tales.  We have also been created some beautiful pieces of art to get us in the holiday spirit!

Locker art!
Paper Snowflakes!

We created the calendar markers for December!
Goldilocks was breaking and entering, so we created Wanted posters to help the bears!
The learners retold the story of Hansel and Gretal, then created the witch's candy house.

Today we shared the story of the Frog Prince, retold the story from the frog's point of view, and created origami frogs!
Together, we have been evaluating fairy tales for certain similar characteristics.
More fairy tales to come!  Thanks everyone - see you next week!
