Snowflakes at school?

Hi there!
Today we had five fantastic parent volunteers help us make 3-D paper snowflakes!! We had a great time and hopefully these will make great decorations for your house - get ready for them to want to make some at home!  Here are a few pictures of our busy snowflake making.  Thanks again to the parents who helped make this a success!!

Artist in Residence

Hi everyone!
This past few moths we have had an artist in residence visit out room to help the students learn how to make stop motion movies.  Last week was a big session as the students designed sets AND then filmed their ants and sets into a movie - enjoy the pictures!  Stay tuned for the final product in a few weeks...

The Fantastic World of Ants!

The end of the week is here and we are wrapping up our study of ants.  Of course, your young scientist may continue to learn more about ants on their own...maybe even ask for an ant farm soon?

We first showed our projects to two different classes of kindergarten kids...so fun!

As we use our language to tell what we know, we learn more about what we know!

Then the parents visit began - thanks everyone!  Your scientists were so proud to show off their hard work to you!

See you next week!!!

A busy week in November

Hi everyone!

We had such a learning filled time this week as we discovered more about ants and how they help our world.
On Monday, we created sculptures of ants from modeling clay.
ON Tuesday we researched, drew, and created posters about why the world needs ants!  Turns out that they are a vital part of our ecosystem.  We also watched a storyteller performer.
On Wednesday we pulled together all of the work we have done to create ant lift the flap books - which you will see on Friday!
Today we are working hard designing our own ant projects to teach others about ants!  Here are a few pictures:

This has been a great week of creating and thinking and growing as learners - we can't wait to show you all what we have done when you visit tomorrow!
